Gebaseerd op een interview in: Bank- en Effectenbedrijf (januari/februari 2010)
Dit is de conclussie van Esther-Mirjam Sent, hoogleraar economie aan de Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen. Gevraagd naar het feit of de crisis niet zo groot zou zijn wanneer de financiële wereld uit vrouwen had bestaan in plaats van mannen, gaf Sent meer inzicht in specifieke onderzoeken ter zake. Daaruit blijkt dat:
- de vrouwelijke component organisaties verantwoordelijker en succesvoller maakt.
- mannen meer focussen op status, macht en competitie.
- vrouwen meer gericht zijn op kwaliteiten als het maken van verbindingen, intuïtie en sensitiviteit.
- mannen risico`s beter inschatten in relatief stabiele situaties
- dat vrouwen dat juist beter doen in instabiele omgevingen
Toch is het volgens Sent moeilijk bewijsbaar dat mannelijk roekeloos gedrag tot de financiële crisis heeft bijgedragen. Wel is er veel bekend over het soort gedrag dat de crisis heeft helpen veroorzaken: onrealistisch optimisme, hebzucht en het nemen van risico`s. Zulk masculien gedrag speelde volgens Sent een rol in ondoorzichtige financiële constructies (…)
